JIM MEIKLE RICS Associate (Construction, Design, and Large Project Management)
Prior to joining the theplaceteam Jim founded Davis Langdon Consultancy – a highly respected and successful construction and built environment consultancy - in the 1980s , where he was senior partner until 2005. He has extensive experience of the management and implementation of large scale construction and consultancy projects and programmes both in the UK and overseas.
Although Jim is a built environment ‘all rounder’, having worked on a wide variety of mainstream projects and researched niche markets like self build housing, his specialism lie in construction industry policy and development, construction and housing economics, construction markets, and international comparisons.
Jim has worked for private clients, a number of UK government departments and agencies, and a number of international organizations including the EU and the World Bank.
Jim has academic links with the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh; he is a CABE enabler, and a Trustee of the Usable Buildings Trust. He is also on the research committees of CABE and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the editorial advisory boards of Building Research and Information and Urban Design and Planning.
